Goose Double

On 12-3-10, I left for work about 15 early so I could swing by a few spots to see where the birds were sitting.  I figured I would quickly drive down the road by my house to see if there was anything by my house and then turn around and head out to check a few other spots.  I saw a few birds by my house but not many.  As I turned around I looked over and there were about 15 geese sleeping on the beach.  Around here we see a fair number of geese but rarely in places where we can shoot them.  This makes them somewhat of a treat to shoot.  I only had about ten minutes before I had to leave for work but figured I would try to get them anyways.  I parked my car and slowly snuck towards where they were sitting.  I got as close as I could (30 yards) and then stood up.  The geese jumped and I picked one out, shouldered my gun, and pulled the trigger.  It came crashing back down to earth.  I racked the action and swung onto another one.  One shot and he also came down.  I started to swing on another one and am pretty confident I would have killed it but the second one I shot started to flop across the water so I had to use my third shot to finish it off.  As I went to pick up the first one, it came to life and started flopping around.  I quickly grabbed it and wrung its neck to put it out of its misery.  Unfortunately this caused some fairly significant damage to the neck of the bird which made a nice picture impossible.
