A good friend of mine decided that he wanted to get into duck hunting this year after hearing me talk so much about it. After thorough research and holding several guns he decided to purchase a Benelli Nova which is the same shotgun that I shoot. After he bought it he found out that he was going to get deployed (he is in the military) right as duck season started. Because of this he asked me if I would be willing to use his gun while he was deployed so that his gun would get out in the field this year and kill some birds even if he wasn't the one using it. Sooo on Monday morning I figured I would head out and see if I couldn't kill a duck or two with it. I got into position about half an hour before daylight. It was a beautiful morning and it was so neat to see the sunrise over the mountains by the ocean. I have of course seen this hundreds of times before but I NEVER get tired of it! I could hear mallards quacking off in the distance but didn't see anything close. I was just enjoying the beauty of my surroundings and wasn't really paying too much attention to looking for ducks. All of a sudden I looked up and there was a pair of mallards right in front of me. I raised my friends gun and with one pull of the trigger killed both of them. I had other things I needed to do so I called it a day and left but it was a thoroughly enjoyable morning and I believe a fitting breaking in of my friends gun. I believe that he will be pleased.
