Goodbye Daddy

A young child stands, at the end of a pier,

Another deployment, in her daddy’s career,

His ship pulls away, and tears fill her eyes,

She begins to pray, as she looks to the skies,

Lord keep daddy safe, as he goes away,

Mom says he’ll come home, on some distant day,

I don’t understand, just why he has to go,

He won’t get to see me, as I quickly grow,

It makes mommy sad, when he goes away,

She’s scared what will happen, as he enters the fray,

I love him so much, and hate to see him leave,

But I know You’ll protects us, this I truly believe,

A young mother weeps, at the end of a pier,

Another deployment in her husband’s career,

She watches his ship, it soon will be gone,

Away it is headed, to the Gulf of Oman,

Lord please give me strength, while he is away,

To be strong for my daughter, I fervently pray,

Oh please give her peace, and keep her from fear,

As the reason he’s gone, to her is unclear,

I love him so much, and hate to say goodbye,

He is such a good father, and a really great guy,

But his Nation called, and he gladly answered,

He was willing to go, not afraid of the hazard,

Please guide and protect him, as each step he takes,

Help him lean on and trust you, when at times his heart breaks,

I know we’ll be fine, if we trust You each day,

Such comfort You give, when I kneel down and pray,

A young sailor looks, at the end of a pier,

Another deployment, in his Coast Guard career,

He waved at his family, wiped a tear from his eye,

It hurt him to leave them, what if something went awry,

He didn’t want to leave, and have to say goodbye,

But his orders were clear, and he was willing to comply,

He was glad to serve his Nation, and join in the fight,

Honored to defend, what was good and what was right,

He’d held his family close, then he’d crossed the brow,

I’ll come back soon, to his daughter he’d vowed,

Lord comfort and protect them, as away I have to be,

This I humbly ask, as I come on bended knee,

Lord strengthen my daughter, and help her to grow,

I love her so much, it was hard to let go,

Help her to see, You’re never away,

Close by her side, You’ll always stay,

Please bless my wife, so amazing is she,

Give her strength for each day, while I am gone oversea,

She’s always been there, each step of the way,

With constant support, faithful day after day,
